Import Missing Cards
My import is missing 9 cards (3211/3220)
What details would help troubleshoot this?

Maybe check if any of your cards are suspended in Anki - the total count includes suspended cards, but the Anki importer only imports non-suspended cards

Hmm cool thanks for checking
You could import the deck again - it won't re-import cards you've already imported
If those last 9 get imported then it's likely a bottleneck in the Anki Addon
Otherwise if the 9 are still missing then something else is going on

It did re-import the cards. I ended up with 6422
For context. I’m importing from Anki into Migaku Memory.
After deleting the deck with duplicates and retrying, Anki broke.
I get an error about Anki web not working.
Seems to consistently omit 9 cards after 4 attempts.
Just tried a different deck and got 5657/5668
Another deck was 6093/6093
There is no log saying which cards failed to import?
In summary, my deck imports are consistently as follows.
Deck 1 3211/3220….9 omitted
Deck 2 5657/5668…11 omitted
Deck 3 6093/6093…0 omitted

I tried each deck multiple times with the same results, so I assume it can’t parse some cards.

Also, it seems to have broken Anki, I will have to reinstall. Importing still works despite the error.

It seems the error propagates a reinstall. Migaku must have corrupted my Anki DB.

Pretty sure the MM anki importer only reads from Anki, it shouldn't write anything to the DB
It says AnkiWeb encountered a problem, are you able to login to AnkiWeb and see if you can see anything there?

Thanks! @Henrik (JST) when you get a chance could you maybe help me investigate why this deck has 11 cards missing during the Anki import?
I know the import logic skips suspended cards even though they're included in the total deck count - do you know of any other reasons cards can get skipped?

Hey sorry I didn't get to look at the issue any further, and doesn't look like Henrik did either - there might be a way from my side to get a text list of the words in MM. I'll put aside some time today and get back to you

I just tried on my windows PC and got the same result. So it’s Probly a card parsing issue.
@Henrik (JST) are you willing to help troubleshoot this? I’m not sure of y’all schedule, so if y’all don’t work the weekends, I understand.
I can just try some things on my own throughout the weekend.

I get it. I was just looking forward to using Migaku Memory and I am stuck until I figure this out. I have already sunk a lot of time into this issue. If there was a way to export a wordlist from MM, I could have this solved in minutes.
I could just diff MM with Anki.

Hm, I just imported Chinese Core into MM, and 3220 cards turned into 2742

ya, ithe Anki deck is not a Migaku card type
the Chinese Grammar deck is smaller and has the same issue. Might be easier for testing. Faster imports with no media

Good news is that I was able to recreate the issue with exactly 3211 cards, just as you did. This means I can start investigating. Bad news is that I will go to bed now, and I don't know how much time I can spend on it on the weekend. But now that I can recreate it, it's high up on my priority list!

It's duplicates!
The following words are duplicates in the chinese core deck:
贵姓
喝醉
请假
亲戚
花钱
预订
座位
请客
里面
筷子
Just search for them in Anki, and you'll see
But we should probably report on that better when doing the importing
Anki has a duplicates feature. If you're in the browser, go to Notes > Find Duplicates...
There, you have to select the field name where you want to look for duplicates. In this case it would be "Word" e.g.

I tested on my debug account where I only had your deck in the collection, so no need for a filter 🙂
