Anki crashes, if i press CAPS LOCK while being in Anki's search bar
Before using migaku, i used anki 2.1.23. I updated to 2.1.54 and delete some excessive addons.
This type of crash happened for the first time.

Maybe this is related to the video driver thingy? For whatever reason the option to change it was removed from the Anki menu, but iirc it can still be changed in the Anki programm files somewhere or something.

Not sure what the issue with the crash is, our Anki guy has to respond for it.
But one thing I can tell you is that you can remove "Pass Fail (EN)" and "ResetEZ" as our Anki Addon already has those features build in.
Maybe even No Penalties or Boosting
If you can remember what No Penalties or Boosting does, I can tell you if that is unnecessary as well.

"Pass Fail (EN)"
This one removes all normal Anki card buttons and only leaves you with a pass and fail button. Which is covert by setting number 1 in the screenshot below.
"ResetEZ"
This one resets you card ease to 240% (IIRC), which is covered by setting number 2 in the screenshot below.

i installed those addons more than 7 month ago, and i did not made any changes there
so i just can delete all three?
and i found out that anki crashes after a while, when i just press caps lock in anki, not only in anki's search bar

Not 100% sure about no penalties or boosting, but the other two you can delete for sure

ok
This add-on removes the Easy Bonus, the Hard Penalty, and the Try Again (Incorrect) card penalty.
Here's what normally happens with Anki, if you have a 250% interval:
Imagine you hit "Good" on a card 5 times in a row.
Your card will go to: 1 day -> 2 days -> 5 days -> 12 days -> 31 days.
Since the default interval is 250%, the # of days in between studying each time multiplied by 2.5, then rounded down (so 12.5 becomes 12).
Then, here's what happens if you hit any of the 4 Anki buttons:
User marked card Good? Set next interval to 250% of last interval.
User marked card Again? Start over and make each new interval 230% (-20) of the last.
User marked card Easy? Set next interval to a 265% (+15) of the last.
User marked card Hard? Set next interval to 235% (-15) of the last.
what ive found in anki web
about that addon
rival-blackβ’2y ago
The boosting one?
optimistic-goldOPβ’2y ago
penalties or boos, yeah
rival-blackβ’2y ago

Maybe one of the addons conflicted with ours, as they do a similar thing π€·ββοΈ
Otherwise we will have to wait for Henrik or Anki guy to wake up and respond
optimistic-goldOPβ’2y ago
no, it crashes if i press caps lock several times yet
rival-blackβ’2y ago
Hm, ok then we will have to wait
optimistic-goldOPβ’2y ago
if you need anything else, i will send you

uPS
Stupid caps lock xD
Same happens to me on MacOS (but I've pretty much gotten used to it now)
optimistic-goldOPβ’2y ago
yeap, if not pressing caps lock everything is fine, but to cure this thing up would be nice thou
exotic-emeraldβ’2y ago
Did you solve this problem? I am currently going through the same problem. I am using a m1 air
underlying-yellowβ’2y ago
@Henrik (JST) is this issue on your radar?
conscious-sapphireβ’2y ago
This seems to be an issue for Intel Chip MacBooks. Specifically regarding multithreading. But without an Intel MacBook myself, I can't really act π
optimistic-goldOPβ’2y ago
mine is m1 pro, so not intel only
conscious-sapphireβ’2y ago
Thanks for the info! I'll try some more to recreate it then

It has never not crashed. So I can repeat as needed.
Caps Lock is used to switch input language. Interestingly you can see it not have effect. see the "A" at the top does not change to "γβ.
I just minimize, switch inputs, and then go back to Anki. It only crashes when in focus. That is my work around.
