Formatting of Card Creation in New Extension
On my slow journey to try to switch to the new add on from the legacy, I'm running into issues. I'm trying to replicate the formatting from my legacy setup but I'm finding that I can't get it right. Certain things the new extension does differently. The new one adds <p> everywhere making the card really spaced out which my small screen doesn't adjust well to. Also some of it when parsing into Anki adds squiggly lines {} which I never used to get from the Legacy one.

Anki adds the
{} squiggle brackets to deal with spaces and other characters in mixed English and Japanese text. Otherwise all the English spaces would be missing.
As long as you have the new Migaku script embedded in your card type, those should be hidden as you review.
Go to Tools > Manage Note Types > Select your note type > Click Migaku Options button

I never seem to have got those squiggly lines on the legacy version. Unless I've done something wrong. The card shouldn't really be displaying it like that should it.
I went to those settings you advised and disabled everything there, but I'm still getting the line breaks defaulting to paragraph breaks by default still

This is expected in the Anki Browser. When you review, you shouldn't see it.
I have no idea how to deal with the paragraph breaks.

I thought so, when I do preview card though it does appear through it

It's a little bit unfortunately. Maybe I have to stick with the Legacy

It does come out formatted more tightly, and so the does the preview cards
the paragraph breaks may be a deal breaker for me
not sure why they forced coded it in the new version when the old version had it right

The JavaScript on your note type is probably bugged.
Probably need to manually clear it and redo the Migaku options. 🤷‍♂️

Ah righto. Well thanks anyway Daichi. Since the paragraph breaks are forced in, I might as well stick to the legacy too. It's a shame cause I love the chatgpt explanation of the new one
