how do I change the anki styling to default? I want it to look the same way a regular deck would look like but keep the same features

You need to clone the Migaku note type for your target language and then modify that cloned note type

Thanks for the response, I made it far enough to clone the migaku note type but I'm not sure how to go about changing it to anki defaults

I’d actually go the other way around
Clone the anki default and edit to add the required fields
You’ll need to flag that clone as a Japanese card for migaku, that will add the required js and css
Sorry if it’s a bit vague, but in office right now so no full anki available
basically in Anki, Browse, Notes, Manage Note Types
pick your newly cloned card type and click Migaku Options
