Can't select other language as main subtitle
In the image i put in attachment there is in fact more languages option but they are only listed in the secondary subs.
Vice versa, Japanese is not listed in the secondary subs.
It should have the same freedom that has the legacy extension. that fixes the following two cases
I sometimes want to have french, my native langue as main sub and have the secondary in japanese
But with this new setup i can't obviously
This is the case when i really want to understand what going on when i am not in study mode
Also sometime i watch korean movie with my girlfriend
and we want to have the possibility to have english in the main and her native language in the second sub.
I don't want to switch my target language as english just to have english as main subs.
(It would make me download the dictionaries and setup and then all the word would be underline red which is not pleasing to the eye)
Thanks

This is intentional, as we are a language learning app. You can set None for target language subs and set anything else for Secondary subs if you only want your native language subtitles
I understand your use-case and complaint here about lack of flexibility compared to Legacy though, and will take that feedback on board πββοΈ
There are technical reasons here as well, since Target Language subtitles are treated differently from other subtitles in that they are auto-parsed using the language-specific parser
In Legacy, parsing is an extra/additional step that you can choose not to do
I see., thanks for your consideration.
For the technical coding part, a bunch of if statement in the dropdown primary subs list would do the trick.
Then it would have to be renamed Primary subtitles.

Duly noted. We will discuss internally and see what we can do, amongst our other priorities π
We of course want the software to be maximally useful
