Audio on front of card

hey! is adding audio to the front of the card bad? without the audio i would not be able to read the kanji but with it i can remember it. for example i know 毎日 means "every day" when i hear it but i cant remember when i see it. my main goal is to speak and nr 2 goal is read. so front of card is: word, sentence and audio. back is translation, furigana and picture

If your main goals are listening and speaking, why not do audio cards without the text on the front? I feel like putting everything except the translation on the front of the card might be a bit much but I'm also focused on reading as one of my main goals, so take that with a grain of salt

Wait didn’t this conversation happen in the Jp chat already or was that a dream :bonkie: Either way if you put the audio in the front then you probably aren’t remembering the reading as well for the cards, so that’s the trade off. Technically you don’t need to know the reading for listening or reading, but if you want to type well it’s way harder without the reading 😅 maybe for speaking too in a way? I think writing the reading is also asked on jlpt so if that’s something important then I’d look into that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It kinda happend I asked about furigana on front of cards😬 now it’s audio I think I’m gonna do a mix of audio and reading I think after reading this! Some cards are to hard for me to not use audio så on those I will use audio. Thanks for reply🤓

Just out of curiosity, what do you mean exactly by „too hard“? Because it’s pretty normal to fail cards several times, especially in the beginning when you don’t yet know a lot of readings. It does get easier over time when you build up a repertoire of possible readings, so to speak :thinkie:

When you have an audio on the front, you don't remember the word. You remember the tempo, the tembre, the voice, the background noise of the recording. Then you associate all that to the english meaning. This is because our brain is lazy and takes the path of least resistance.

I put audio, sentence, and the picture on the front.
