How did you start learning Japanese vocab ?
Hey there !
I just started using Migaku yesterday and I’m loving it and its community 🙂
I have been doing Japanese classes with a tutor for a bit more than a year now and was mainly focusing on speaking and listening. I’m fluent in kanas but my kanji (and vocab in general) knowledge is pretty bad…
I’m wondering what the best way to learn new vocab be using Migaku. Did you straight up learn the Kanjis without showing Furigana on the front of cards ? Or did you first focus on understanding the translation of it and learned the Kanji later on ?
And if you picked option 2, what’s the best way to do it ?
Have a great day 🙂

I’d recommend the academy 1 course
I also recommend hiding furigana to only show in the back of the card. Then I only pass a card if I know the meaning and reading

What Minoqi said. And if you find you have a lot of trouble remembering the vocab, you can try Migaku’s kanji course alongside the academy course

Thanks for the advice ! Could you elaborate how you're supposed to use the kanji course ? I'm a bit confused, doesn't it overlap with the main lesson ?

I haven't done the kanji course myself, because I had already done RTK when it released and was almost done with the academy anyway
But from what I understand it teaches the kanji that are used in the vocabulary from the academy course
I think the "official" recommendation is to start the kanji course 14 days prior to the academy course, so you already know the kanji that appear in the academy vocabulary. But I'm sure it's still beneficial if you start it later
It's definitely not a must
