Migaku optimization on older laptop
Desperate for help with persistent performance issues using the Migaku extension on my older Asus X409F laptop (12GB RAM).
Across all versions (legacy, early access), video playback on YouTube and Animelon is severely impacted when Migaku is active – it's either very slow, laggy, or the audio mutes. Not just video playback is affected, I can't even mine word on ttsu reader. This makes the extension almost unusable for videos, despite features I liked like the legacy reader and AI helper.
Since I don't see many similar reports, I suspect my laptop's hardware is the culprit. As a lifetime MIA Japanese subscriber, I really value this tool and want to get it working.

Migaku takes a lot of resources to work, I’ve heard a lot of reports of it not running well on older devices. I’m not really sure what you can do about it besides making sure everything is closed besides Migaku when you use it 🤔 @HulK

@Hien If you're mining on YouTube, do you have hardware acceleration turned on? Are you watching long videos or ones around 10min?
optimizations will continue to be made but parsing is an intensive task
ttsu reader parses all the text so better to use the clipboard and paste chunks
also can you test that you have the same lag with other extensions disabled

I mostly watch video longer than 10 minutes (It's hard to find a video less than 10 minutes nowadays on youtube beside short). hardware acceleration is already disable in my browser.
on early access version, the video on animelon and youtube is always muted and lagging.
on regular version, the audio is good, but the video is really lag or slow down. When I try to sync the subtitle with the audio, the video muted right away. Making the whole experience terrible.
On legacy version, long video is a problem like early access version.

can you try turning it on tho
and see if it improves your lag

1. What version of the extension are you running?
- Find the puzzle piece icon in the top-right →
Manage extensions
→ find Migaku and the version is the number next to the extension name
- Or go to Migaku extension settings and scroll all the way down
2. Does this issue happen in Chrome?
Chrome is the only officially supported browser and others can experience some bugs
3. What OS are you using?
Windows / Mac / Linux / Other
4. Can you replicate this issue even if you temporarily disable all other extensions?
- Puzzle piece icon → Manage extensions
→ Turn off slider in bottom-right corner
- Alternatively, you can create a new Chrome profile by clicking on your profile icon → Add Chrome Profile
→ install Migaku againoptimistic-goldOP•3w ago
Thanks for your help. Turn out the problem lies in my current browser, vivaldi. I just move to another browser, brave. It's really smooth, no problem at all.
