Does the Migaku Anki Add-on keep track of known words

Like the title says, if I were to use Anki as my main SRS, does the Migaku Anki Add-on keep track of the known and learning words like the Migaku Memory SRS does?

No, you’d have to manually update it

So essentially mark a card as known every time I feel like I know it is guess?

Either: 1. when you see it in your immersion and think you know it then mark as known 2. Import the Anki deck occasionally via the legacy version on brave and it’ll update the status of the words 3. Export the Anki deck with just your known words into a txt file -> open in google sheets -> copy the column with the words -> paste into known words box in Migaku

For the second option, what do you mean import the Anki deck via the legacy version? I haven’t used the legacy version in ages is there a way to update the known words there directly or something?

You can import your Anki deck to update your known list. Haven’t done it personally but it’s a common method I see people use. Legacy only works on brave browser though

Also if you don’t mind me asking, do you use Anki or MM? I’m thinking of switching back to Anki because I’ve noticed my retention/pass rate drop on MM after coming back to Japanese (like many others) I still have mine working on chrome so should be fine

Paper and pencil right now :KEKW: I’ve been running an experiment lol I have tried a new Anki method that’s similar to my paper method to see if I’ll get similar results. If I do do digital flashcards again I think I’ll continue with Anki since my retention with mm has been worse, and to do my paper method I need to be able to change the learning intervals which I can’t do with mm yet so 😔

Paper flashcards? 😭 And yes I agree I’ve been using MM after a few years of not learning Japanese and for sure my retention is lower and even though it’s been “ok” I think with time Anki is just gonna be better

I have a notebook and study a page at a time, which is 32 words, by repeating the list 10 times in a row then an extra 3 from random points. Then I used bunpros srs intervals for reviewing. Honestly my retention was pretty high. I’m testing it in Anki by adding 10 10min learning intervals and then a 4 and 8 hour one 😂 At least my retention was decent in the 2-3 weeks I’ve tested the method, long term not sure but if Anki works well then I’ll probably just continue in Anki otherwise I’ll stick with my paper method

That’s a very interesting method tho and I think this kind of stuff is super cool to try out if you have the time for it so props to you for that! That reminds me of the micro step approach that was going around in the past which I did try and actually quite liked it where instead of the default 1m and 10m steps you’d use 19s 38s 5m 1h 1300m

Oh that’s interesting, 1300m so like 21 hours later? What an interesting number range 🤔 It is I do l Ike experimenting to see what’s the most sustainable but with a high retention rate. I haven’t found my favorite system yet though

I can send you the website where I found that information it was quite interesting and he made a really solid argument for micro steps for beginners. From my understanding tho for more advanced learners the benefits aren’t as apparent

Interesting read and interesting that I seem to have came to the same conclusion on my own lol. Mine are set to 1m 2m 3m and so on until 10m but then it’s 4 hrs and 8 hrs… maybe I’ll try just 1 hour and 1 day 🤔

It’s cool that you’ve naturally gravitated to a similar approach I guess it shows that it does have merit to it. If you do end up trying it let me know if you feel improvements in your retention
