Well, if you have been using it for a few days this is normal. It shows you all the cards you're learning at different times. Each consecutive time you pass a card, the time until you are shown the card again grows longer. If you fail a card, the time until you are shown that card again gets shorter. That's how all SRS systems work and how you get the vocabulary into your long-term memory over time People say on average you can take your number of new cards per day times 7 to get to your long-term daily review number. But this depends on how well you can remember cards, so it might end up lower

If it ever gets too much, just set the new words to 0 for a little while and only do reviews. The number will go down again pretty quickly! The trick is to find a balance you can sustain every day without burning out

Exasperated tone, "You can do that?" That is really good advice!

This is something called an SRS system which stands for spaced repetition. You dont have to do your reviews all in one go, and tbh, the average time it takes me is about 40 mins, so you could just split the time into two 20min sections of your day. SRS however is only typically effective when done daily, as these reviews are being shown at a time tailored to your specific needs.
