German Specific Features | Migaku Browser Extension
Migaku's Chrome extension has some settings that are specifically designed to support people learning German. You may adjust Migaku's language-specific settings by clicking on the Migaku icon located to the right of the URL bar. In particular, all German nouns have one of three grammatical genders: feminine (pink), neuter (grey), or masculine (blue). It is important to know a noun's gender to speak German well, as without it you will make mistakes with articles, and this is very noticeable to German people. We currently offer three display options for noun gender: 1. Display no gender coloring, if you're already an advanced learner 2. Display gender coloring when hovering over a word, so you can quiz yourself 3. Always display gender coloring, if you're a beginner and need extra support This simple change is very powerful: if the word "Wert" is blue every time you see it, it'll eventually "feel" blue (and thus masculine) to you. Whereas most learners have to memorize each noun's gender, Migaku enable you to acquire it naturally. Note that these settings will only display if your target language is set to German.
