Compare things

(ほう)より can be used to compare two things in Japanese.

The most common structure is AほうBより, where A is more than B in some way.

This structure can also be flipped around to BよりAほう, but A is still more than B in some way.

For い-adjectives and verbs, you just attach ほう.

野菜(やさい)()べる(ほう)(くすり)()より(からだ)いい

Eating vegetables is better for your body than taking medicine.

(やす)より(たか)(ほう)長持(ながも)する

The more expensive one lasts longer than the cheap one.

For な-adjectives needs to be added.

(わたし)にぎやか(まち)より(しず)ほう()です

I prefer quiet places over lively towns.

If the word preceding ほう is a noun add between them.

ビール(ほう)ワインより()です

I prefer beer over wine.
